The essential oil is obtained from the plant's root through the steam distillation method. Via this process there is a yield of 0.075 to 0.080% cyperine which is its essential constituent. This oil possesses a remarkable characteristic; it has the ability to change color and alter its fragrance. As it transitions from a deep brown hue to a clear, transparent green, its scent evolves from earthy to woody.
